2019 W. Main St. Paving Project Press Release

The City of Alliance in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation proposes to construct the W. Main St. Paving Project.  This roadway maintenance consists of milling the existing roadway surface, placing a chip seal interlayer, and then resurfacing with a 1/5 inch overlay of asphalt.  The work will include new ADA compliant wheelchair ramps at the intersections where needed.

Limits: W. Main St. from 185 feet west of Bonnieview Ave. to Union Ave. The project length is approximately 0.75 miles.

The project is currently in the detailed design phase.  The estimated cost of the work is $312,270.  The City has received a $176,000 grant from Stark County Area Transportation Study and anticipates applying $70,000 of Municipal Road Fund grant money towards the project, as well.  Construction is proposed for the summer of 2019.  Those wishing to comment or ask questions may do so by contacting the Alliance Engineering Department, 504 E. In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (codified as 36 CFR 800), ODOT also request information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project.  Cultural resources include prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, sites, and districts. 

The proposed project will not result in any substantial impacts to environmental resources.  The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 32\ and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
