The Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 12251 Rockhill Avenue Northeast and treats domestic, commercial, and industrial wastewater from the city and surrounding areas. The final effluent is discharged into the Mahoning River at the head works of Berlin Reservoir.
Wastewater treatment in Alliance goes back to 1895, with the original plant located on Keystone Street. For the full history of wastewater treatment in the City of Alliance, see the Wastewater Department brochure (PDF).
From the Wastewater Treatment Plant, we run an approved Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP). For more information about this program or for a copy of the Industrial Waste Questionnaire / Permit Application, see the Industrial Pretreatment Program page.
During the treatment process, sewage sludge is collected and digested. We land apply this sewage sludge on local farmer's fields. For information about how to receive sewage sludge or what it is, see the Sewage Sludge page.
We accept hauled septic waste and landfill leachate at our facility. For a septic hauler's permit, fee schedule and a list of what waste is acceptable and what waste is not acceptable, see the Hauled Waste page.
