The Water Department is located at 1015 N. Walnut Avenue. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After hours services are available in the case of an emergency.

The primary responsibility of the Water Department is the maintenance of the City’s water mains and sanitary sewers.

Maintenance of the water distribution system includes water towers, fire hydrants, valves as well as making taps for new services. Another important aspect of maintaining the water distribution system is backflow prevention.

General maintenance of sanitary and storm sewers includes opening up backed up sewer mains, repairing catch basins, and identifying and repairing inflow and infiltration violations.

The Central Garage is operated by the Water Department, which maintains all of the vehicles in the Water, Street, Parks, Court, Engineering, Police, Water Treatment, Water Billing, and Wastewater Treatment Departments.

The Water Department also provides maintenance for the Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities along with the reservoirs, dams, and spillways owned by the City of Alliance.
