The AASC (Alliance Area Senior Center) is a non-profit organization that offers programs and activities to enhance the lives of seniors in Alliance and the surrounding communities.   Membership is not required to participate in the many activities and functions at the Center but it does have its privileges such as receiving the monthly newsletter.  The newsletter carries information on all the activities that are scheduled for the coming month.  The center also offers one-day as well as extended day tours that are advertised in the newsletter at a member’s cost.  Membership is open to anyone 55 years and older.  Annual dues are $20 for a couple and $15 for a single.

Socialization is one of the leading priorities at the Center.  Shuffleboard, ping pong, line dancing, chorus, playing cards, wii gaming, are just some of the activities that bring the seniors out and get them involved. 

The Center offers a variety of informational seminars that are of interest to the senior community and are presented periodically.  The seminars assist the seniors with up-to-date topics that may directly affect their lives. Various craft classes are offered for those interested.  A variety of free services are also available at the Center such as: eye screenings, hearing clinic, and legal-aid, which are available by calling for an appointment. Tax preparation assistance is also provided by volunteers during the tax season. A seasonal flu vaccination clinic is arranged with the city health department and provided at the Center each year.

With a very minimal staff the Center relies heavily on volunteers.  Volunteering opportunities include serving meals, assisting with food preparation, assisting with the bingo program, and aiding with the numerous money-making endeavors throughout the year.  Volunteering is encouraged as a great way to make new friends and to continue serving the community. New volunteers are always welcome!
