Alliance Police Department Administration

         Lawrence A. Dordea, Chief of Police : Lawrence Dordea has over 25 years of police service with the City of Alliance Police Department and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Chief Dordea is certified Voice Stress Analysis Examiner and sought after lecturer on the subject of truth verification.

    Scott Griffith: Captain Scott Griffith is the Support Services Bureau Commander of the Alliance Police Department.  He is in charge of the department's Special Operations Bureau, Department Records, Detective Bureau, Dispatch services, Training and the City Jail.  Captain Griffith is a 13 year veteran of the Alliance Police Department.
 
Alliance Police Department Patrol Bureau

                   

                 

The Alliance Police Department Patrol Bureau is the largest division of the agency. This officers of this bureau are responsible for providing police service to the citizen's of Alliance 24 hours a day 365 days per year. The Bureau operates primarily with three different shifts. Each shift is supervised by a command staff consisting of lieutenants and sergeants. Officers assigned to this division may work patrol, court security, prisoner, have school resource duties, or work the jail.  

Alliance Police Department Support Services Bureau

  The Support Services Bureau includes personnel assigned to Records, and Dispatch. The Records Division operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Dispatch Services operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The dispatch center provides police, fire, and EMS dispatching for the City of Alliance and for Smith Twp. Jail Services overlaps between the Patrol Bureau and the Support Services Bureau. The Alliance City Jail is rated as a 12 hour holding facility.

           

Alliance Police Department Detective Bureau

The Alliance Police Department Detective Bureau is one of the busiest and most productive investigative bodies in northeastern Ohio. The Bureau is comprised of three separate units; the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and the Juvenile/Sex Crimes Unit. The Bureau has conducted some of the largest drug raids in the state, dismantled several large drug and gambling operations, solved numerous high profile murders, and has an exceptionally high clearance rate.

         

Alliance Police Department

In addition to patrol and investigative duties, many officers of the Alliance Police Department are specially trained to deal with out of the ordinary situations. The department maintains a highly trained Special Response Team (SRT). Members of this elite team are utilized during high risk warrant service, barricaded suspect incidents, and hostage situations. The award winning Alliance Police Department SRT is one of the most professional police SWAT units in Ohio and it is frequently called upon to work with and train other similar teams. The police department, also, boasts a highly trained Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Team (CHNT). The members of this team include police officers and a certified psychologist. It is the mission of this unit to stabilize volatile situations and diffuse stressful situations allowing a peaceful resolution to dangerous situations.
